Woodland Creature Mask Workshop (Collaborative Project)
May 16 – June 14 | During Gallery Open Hours
Join us for a creative, community-driven workshop where we’ll bring the spirit of the forest to life! In celebration of this year’s Tunnel Days theme, participants are invited to design and create their own woodland creature masks using EVA foam and natural materials.
This is an open, ongoing workshop—stop in during gallery hours anytime between May 16 and June 14 to begin or continue working on your mask. We’ll provide EVA foam and materials needed to create, along with tools and guidance to help you build and customize your piece. Some patterns will be available, but if you’d like to create your own, that’s encouraged! No experience is needed—just a willingness to create and experiment.
Kickoff Workshop: Saturday, May 16 | 1–5 PM
We encourage everyone to attend the kickoff session if possible to get started, learn techniques, and connect with other participants.
We also encourage participants to bring small found objects from nature—such as bark, moss, or other forest-inspired materials—to incorporate into their designs. Feel free to bring extra materials to share—helping build a communal collection of forest treasures that everyone can draw from.
Participants are encouraged to display their finished masks at SkyArtworks as they are completed, helping to grow a collaborative forest of creatures throughout the month. Masks can be picked up in time for Tunnel Days festivities—perfect for wearing and celebrating together!
If you have experience and would like to help support others with instruction throughout the month, we’d love to hear from you—please let us know.
Materials provided. All skill levels welcome.
