Attention Artists!
The Town of Skykomish is a hidden gem, a small frontier mountain town nestled between two national forests on HWY-2 in the Cascade Mountains. Join us in commemorating the vibrant history of the Town of Skykomish and the surrounding Upper Sky Valley through artistic expression!
Theme: This call invites artists to submit work that reflects on our unique heritage, where the railroad played an integral role in connecting the East to the West through Stevens Pass and fostering the growth of the Pacific Northwest. We encourage artists to explore the historical significance of Skykomish and the Upper Sky Valley, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between mining, logging, and the railroad, and the later development of the region as a portal for recreational tourism. We also invite art that speaks to the region’s longer history as the home of the Skykomish “up-river” Coast Salish people indigenous to the Sky Valley. Entries should celebrate the spirit of outdoor adventure, resilience, and independence that define this area’s identity.
Submission Guidelines:
- Medium: All mediums are welcome, including but not limited to paintings, photography, sculptures, mixed media, and more.
- Eligibility: Submissions are open to all participants of the Sky Valley community, including residents and regular visitors.
- Submission Limit: Each artist may submit up to three pieces for consideration.
- Deadline: Submissions must be received by July 11, 2024.
