Electric Sky
June 20-23, 2024
Electric Sky is a weekend retreat for artists, designers, and creative technologists near the Town of Skykomish in the Cascade Mountains, designed to facilitate collaboration, community, and life-long learning for creatives interested in developing their practice at the intersection of art and technology. Camp, make, learn, and share your work.
- In the style of hackathons, you may bring your own piece to work on, you may join other emergent collaborations, or you may just show up to enjoy the show.
- Projects are shared during our outdoor, Saturday night art show and party (June 22nd, 8–11pm), which is open to the public.
- As a community-oriented event, Electric Sky is family-friendly—get your kids involved in art and tech, or let them play in the ballpark and the river while you work on your project.
2024 Theme:
SUN WIND WATER
Each year, we pick a theme and ask participants to explore that theme through collaborative projects in our pop-up maker space, workshops, and outdoor art show on Saturday night (June 22nd). We are pleased to announce for 2024 our theme is SUN WIND WATER. As we consider a future that is more ecologically resilient with clean energy, we invite participants to explore the use of renewable energies in their projects.
- How might our projects be both technological—with sound, movement, and lighting—yet unplugged from a power grid?
- How can we integrate existing renewable energy technologies into our art, such as solar panels, wind turbines, and water batteries?
- How might we directly leverage the sun, wind, and water as creative mediums that animate our work (literally or figuratively)?
- How can we engage our audiences to warm up to using renewable energies in everyday objects?
